How to dress your home for spring

SPRING IS THE PERFECT TIME TO GIVE YOUR BUILD TO RENT HOME A FRESH AND INVITING LOOK. AS THE WEATHER WARMS UP AND NATURE COMES BACK TO LIFE, YOU CAN INFUSE YOUR INTERIOR DESIGN WITH THE SPIRIT OF THE SEASON.

AGC BTR, the Build to Rent Interior Design experts, are here to help you refresh your BTR home for the season of colour, sunnier days and warmer weather (with a few showers).

These tips will help you dress your home for spring and create a welcoming and vibrant space.

Let mother nature in

Spring is the season of growth and renewal, so why not bring some of nature's beauty into your build to rent home? Bringing in natural elements brings a spring garden picnic atmosphere to the inside of your home. Place fresh flowers or potted plants in different rooms to add a pop of color and freshness. You can also use natural materials such as wicker, rattan, or bamboo for furniture or decor pieces to create a natural and organic feel in your home.

Adding natural light to your home is a key element of spring interior design. As the days get longer and the weather gets warmer, maximising natural light can instantly brighten up your space and create a fresh and airy atmosphere. To complement the natural light, more neutral shades in your accessories will help balance and bounce the light around your room. One of our favourite projects we completed was at the Greenwich Peninsula. The apartments were arranged around the huge open windows with the stunning views of The 02 Arena. We complemented this by using neutral foundations but pops of colour within accessories, which can be easily changed for the seasons!

It’s time for an update

Updating your fabrics, patterns, colours of the details in your home can make a huge impact in the overall look. Swapping out heavy fabrics and dark patterns for lighter ones can instantly make your build to rent home feel more spring-like. Consider updating your cushions, bedding, and other textiles with lighter fabrics such as cotton, linen, or silk.Opt for floral or botanical patterns to add a touch of nature-inspired design to your home. Don't be afraid to mix and match different patterns and textures to create a playful and inviting look. Get creative!

“Designing your home to evolve with the changing rhythms of nature is crucial. Just as the landscape outside shifts with the seasons, your interior design should reflect the freshness of spring, the warmth of summer, the coziness of fall, and the tranquility of winter.”

Feel the sun on your skin

Creating yourself an outside haven is essential for spring and summer! It’s the perfect time to enjoy the outdoors, so why not create outdoor spaces in your BTR home? If you have a balcony, patio, or a small outdoor area, consider adding outdoor furniture, potted plants, and outdoor lighting to create a cosy and inviting outdoor space. This will allow you to enjoy the fresh air and sunshine, and it's a great way to extend your living space during the spring season.

We had the pleasure of working closely with build to rent operators, Vertus, on the apartments and communal spaces like the rooftop garden. We were brought in to create an environment that connects its residences with the surrounding water and quaint garden space. We won an International Property Award in the Mixed-Use Interior UK Category with this project!
