Renters' Future Needs: The Growth of Build to Rent Developments

The Build to Rent industry is constantly evolving, and we can expect to see some exciting trends in the future! From a focus on sustainability and technology to the incorporation of co-living spaces and innovative community areas, the future of Build to Rent developments is all about creating a seamless and connected living experience. Keep an eye out for these game-changing trends in the coming years!

You won’t want to leave

Build to Rent developments of the future are set to embrace the hobbies and interests of their residents in new and exciting ways! From dedicated workspace for remote workers to yoga studios and maker spaces, the aim is to create a community where residents can pursue their passions and interests in a supportive and convenient environment. No longer just a place to live, Build to Rent is becoming a hub for creativity, collaboration, and community.

Incorporating hobbies into Build to Rent schemes can also mean the inclusion of shared gardening spaces, game rooms, or even pet grooming areas for animal lovers. The possibilities are endless, and the goal is to create a diverse and dynamic living experience that caters to the needs and interests of all residents. By prioritising wellness, creativity, and community, Build to Rent is set to become a model for modern living. Because of this, more people are going to want to invest in BTR schemes and choose to live there. People find they are getting more than from buying your own property and as the travel industry grows, people don’t want to be restricted to one place anymore. BTR allows them to move around.

Our project, 8 Water St, focused creating an environment that connects its residences with the surrounding water and quaint garden space. The development boasts flexible communal areas including; a lounge, self-service bar, screen room, private dining room and an expansive roof terrace.

More Apps to Figure out

The integration of technology is playing a big role in the future of Build to Rent developments. From smart home systems that allow for seamless control of your living environment to high-speed internet and virtual amenities, technology is making life easier and more convenient for renters. With a focus on creating connected communities, Build to Rent schemes are leveraging technology to enhance the overall living experience and provide residents with a truly connected home.

In addition, the use of virtual and augmented reality technologies is becoming increasingly popular in the Build to Rent industry, allowing potential residents to experience a development before even setting foot on the property. The use of these technologies also allows for easy and convenient communication with property managers, making maintenance requests and other interactions a breeze. With technology at the forefront of innovation, the future of Build to Rent is looking brighter than ever!

“A developer's ability to respond to and fulfill the needs of residents is crucial to achieving resident satisfaction, which forms the foundation of a successful build-to-rent development.”

- Tori Mitchell, Associate Director

Zen Living

Wellness is becoming an increasingly important factor in Build to Rent schemes, with a focus on creating healthy and harmonious living environments. From rooftop gardens and outdoor spaces for yoga and exercise, to on-site gyms and wellness centers, Build to Rent developments are incorporating wellness into every aspect of the design. The goal is to promote a healthy lifestyle for residents and provide them with the resources they need to thrive in both their personal and professional lives.

The roof terrace seen at our project, 8 Water Street is the largest outdoor space in the Vertus portfolio. Hosting contemporary lounge seating, dining tables for summer alfresco dining and an outdoor bar for residents and visitors, which can be enjoyed all year round. Complete with an open terrace, there is plenty of space for entertaining or be at one with nature with the perfect reading nook.

Incorporating wellness into Build to Rent also means paying attention to indoor air quality, lighting, and acoustics, creating spaces that not only look good, but feel good too. The use of natural materials and biophilic design elements also plays a big role in promoting wellness and connecting residents with nature. With a growing emphasis on mental and physical health, the integration of wellness into Build to Rent schemes is a trend that is here to stay.
